Wyoming House Bill 0195 Fails Committee Vote

A sign that says "Welcome to Wyoming" and "Forever West" overlooks a landscape and cloudy skies.

Wyoming House Bill 0195 was introduced in mid-January. It aimed to prohibit reporting medical debt to credit reporting agencies (CRAs) and created a civil penalty for healthcare facility and/or the entity collecting the debt. The bill did not pass out of committee in early February 2025 and is unlikely to receive further consideration.

In addition to trying to prohibit reporting medical debt to the CRAs and imposing civil penalties in the amount of the medical debt, it stated that “health care products” and “health care services” were both covered under the definition of medical debt. It also excluded charges to a credit card unless it was issued specifically for the payment of charges related to healthcare expenses.

At the time of publication, Wyoming House Bill 0195 does not have any scheduled hearings or floor sessions, but if that changes, Americollect will keep you informed.
